Silent Night

The joys of sleeping without truck engines running, reefers running, and people pulling in and leaving beside you setting their breaks is just a treat. We took a chance yesterday after stopping in Louisville and had some awesome BBQ that has long been recommended by a trucker friend. While at the BBQ place we had Buttermilk Pie and if you had a diabetic problem I think that pie would put you over the edge. I read a little about the pie after getting back in the truck. Five hours to prepare and 1 1/2 hours to bake at 400 calories a slice. Only the south could discover something so sweet to go along with your sweet tea! After our meal we decided to get closer to our delivery which was a chemical plant out in the middle of no where. We could not find a place to stay on the way to the plant so we decided to ask the guard shack if they knew of anything. Well lo and behold they have reserved three spots for trucks over to the side under a tree and next to some very nice grass! Talk about luck we were thrilled. Bob got out his polishing stuff and cleaned on the truck and I got out my lawn chair and worked on the computer. I had done my cleaning earlier in the day. We had a great evening and really appreciated this customer for providing such a nice area to wait. We are always very careful that no signs of our cleaning will be left behind. We do not want to ever be one of those truck drivers who gets anyone banned from parking at any location. This morning I woke up to birds chirping and the weather was just perfect to leave the windows open a tad. Great way to start a new week!

  1. It always amazes me when we find out that there really are people out there that care. It is so refreshing to hear that some one takes the time to give a little help in one way or another. Unless you are a driver there is no way that you can convey to a non-driver of this parking area and how wonderful it was. Others just dont get it. It is a "Pat on the back". If more people would just say thanks once in awhile it would make our job so much better. It gives a reason to do what we do all the time without it. I am just saying. Love your blogs Linda and hope to run across you guys sometime. Brad
