One of the hardest things to me about being on the road is not having animals. Some of you know that we have been able to buy a house out in the country once again and get away from our city apartment. We have been lucky enough to move into a community were there are LOTS of animals such as dogs, cats, chickens, cattle and horses. We acquired three outdoor cats with the house that we are gradually spaying and neutering. We were a little late on the spaying as the stork just delivered 6 kittens 4 to one mother cat and 2 to the other mama kitten. This time at home a neighbor had a cow die with a month old calf and they had made plans to be gone for a few day and we would be at home and we graciously offered to take on the calf and bottle feed "Cookie" three times a day. Now our neighbor thinks we did them a huge favor when in reality we were in seventh heaven to be able to feed Cookie, brush the horses and give them treats, and while Brandy our daughter would feed the calf I was able to throw a line in the pond and do a little fishing at the morning feeding. The neighbor is still thanking us for taking care of the calf and we are thinking we should pay her for the pleasure it gave our daughters and me to be able to be around livestock again! We were really lucky that we were able to be home at the time they wanted to leave. We really feel lucky to once again be in the country to wake up to the sound of chickens crowing and cows lowing in the morning instead of our normal truck stop noise. Even with all of this the call of the road comes once again and I cannot wait to get back out there and see some more of our wonderful country!

I am sooooo jealous!! I used to feed our calves when I was a kid and just seeing the picture makes me want one again. Thank you for sharing "Cookie" with us :)
